Hi, I'm Javi,

The human behind Cornucopia Threads.  I’m a fiber artist from Chile. I moved to the United States in 2016 to be with my wife. The path of art and creation has been present throughout my life, fostered by my mother’s encouragement and example. When she gave me a loom for my 13th birthday, I discovered a passion for fiber as an artistic medium. I began exploring techniques in weaving, embroidery, punch needle, and tufting, always as a self-taught artist.

Rug Care Q&A

  •  Vacuum your rug regularly to remove dust, dirt, and debris. This helps prevent the buildup of particles that can damage the fibers over time.

  • Attend to spills and stains promptly to prevent them from setting into the fibers. Use laundry detergent (or pH-neutral soap) with an undyed cloth to spot clean, wash with your hands or a soft brush, rinse, and hang to dry. Avoid harsh chemicals and bleach when removing stains.

  • Rotate your rug periodically to ensure even wear. This is especially important for rugs in high-traffic areas.

  • Place rug pads underneath your rugs to provide extra cushioning and prevent slipping. Rug pads also help to extend the life of your rug by reducing friction between the rug and the floor.

  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause colors to fade and fibers to weaken. If possible, position your rug away from windows or use curtains or blinds to filter sunlight.

  • For rugs with longer fibers, gently brush them with a soft-bristled brush to fluff up the fibers and remove any trapped dirt or debris.

  • The fibers are glued into the back of the piece. You can safely vacuum it to clean the dust.

  • I recommend against it. Each rug is made with resistant glue but it needs to be cleaned gently.
